Cris ‘Cyborg’ Gives Update On Potential Fight With Ronda Rousey At 135
Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino has been campaigning for a super fight
with Ronda Rousey for years now and when talks of “Rowdy’s” return
started to surface, fight fans around the world thought the bout was all
but official. However, it was later revealed that Rousey would be
returning to action at “UFC 207” to fight Amanda Nunes in the main event
to decide the fate of the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship.
Once again, Rousey left “Cyborg” without a fight.
The biggest hurdle in negotiations trying to get this fight on track
is the fact that Rousey does not want to meet “Cyborg” at 145 or 140,
and it’s impossible for “Cyborg” to cut down to 135. Cyborg told FloCombat:
“135 is not an option. Belts are for the fans, and I already have
two at my house. I don’t need anymore to feel successful with what I’ve
accomplished. Fans define a fighter’s legacy. When I’m done I hope they
respect my battles inside the cage and realize I always tried to help
create opportunities for growth in WMMA on a whole.”
